Students who are entering Florida Atlantic University (FAU) as: (1) a freshman or (2) a transfer without the Foundation Architecture program courses. These students must begin their studies with ARC1301 Architecture Design 1. For students who have completed the first two years of architecture courses please refer to the profesional architecture program requirements for entry.

What is the first thing I should do?
Apply to FAU as soon as possible and send all necessary transcripts. You may fill out the university application and submit it online. Please visit FAU’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions. If you plan to live on campus be sure to submit your application for housing as soon as possible.

How do I get into ARC1301 Architectural Design 1?
In order to enter into ARC 1301 - Architectural Design 1 at FAU, students must first be accepted into the Foundation Architecture program.

When will I know if I am accepted?
Students' qualifications are evaluated by the Office of Admissions and are ranked based on Grade Point Average, standardized test scores, and math achievement. Once the School of Architecture has completed a review of qualifications, letters will be sent to all applicants. Some students who were not accepted in the first round may be placed on a waiting list. If a student who was accepted into the program decides that they will not be attending FAU then the next person on the waiting list will be notified.

What happens once I am accepted?
Once you are notified that you have been accepted, you will need to attend freshman orientation. You must attend an orientation in May, June, or July so that all holds can be removed and you can be enrolled into your classes. If you are accepted and you do not attend an orientation in one of these months you may lose your seat in Design 1 at FAU.

What happens if I am not accepted into the Foundation Architecture program?
Students should consider other majors at FAU such as the Urban and Regional Planning major through FAU College of Science or Interdiciplinary Studies in the College of Arts and Letters, both majors can prepare a student to apply to a Masters program in Architecutre at any Florida State Instituion.
